[Anime Review] Brothers Conflict
Just start writing, and I really cannot stop. Oh my ...
Because the night is still long, I think I will have one more posting ^^
So, it is an anime review for this season, Summer 2013. BROTHERS CONFLICT! Yeay!! Many fans call it BroCon to be simple.
BroCon anime is an adaptation from its light novel with the same title. It also has been adapted to PSP games 'Brothers Conflict Passion Pink' on 2012 and also 'Brothers Conflict Brilliant Blue' soon to be released this year, and of course its own manga. The light novel itself is still ongoing for the second season, with the first season ended kinda 'happy'. I read the light novel summary from 'Love-colored Sky' by Rin-san. Rin-san, you are the best!
So, here comes the anime itself from Brain's Base studio (Spice and Wolf II, Durarara!!, Amnesia) and directed by Atsushi Matsumoto (Blood+, Gakuen Alice). Still ongoing on episode 8 this week, and will end soon on episode 12. It means, only a month left for Ema-chan.
The story is about a girl named Ema Hinata (although they have never been mentioning her real name even until episode 8 -__-). Her father, Rintarou Hinata, is an adventurer that goes everywhere over the world. He soon to be married with Mrs. Miwa Asahina. Well, why do I call her Mrs.? Yeah, because she has been a widow for about ten years. What makes this story interesting is, Ema is going to live with Miwa's children. Not only two or three. But, thirteen! God, what a big household! And all of them are handsome and cute males. Geez, Ema ... what a lucky chick you are.
The siblings are all in different age gap between one and the other, have different job, have different characteristics, and have different 'kawaii-meter' (well, the last one is just for me, hahaha). The siblings are: the oldest one is Masaomi (Masa-nii, Maa-kun), a sweet, family-man pediatrician; Ukyo (Kyo-nii), a motherly, strict lawyer; Kaname (Kana-nii), a womanizer monk; Hikaru (Hika-nii), a crossdresser novelist; Tsubaki, a playful and flashy voice actor, one of the triplet; Azusa, a cool and composed voice actor, one of the triplet; Natsume, a caring salaryman, one of the triplet; Louis, a cute and soft-hearted hairdresser; Subaru, an awkward but sporty college student; Iori, the high school prince; Yusuke, the frank but tsundere classmate; Fuuto, the sweet devilish idol; and Wataru, the innocent youngest one.
And, sooo, this story will evolve on how Ema's life after she joined the household. Big of course like any other reverse harem story, all the men heroes will fall in love with Ema. All. Whether it's implicit or explicit. So, just try to keep calm and wait until your favorite one get his own spot. Mine is Natsume and Masaomi :3
Actually, the story itself take the scenes from the light novel ... with some addition and reduction. I don't very understand, why some of the scenes in anime were made randomly in timeline. It makes me a little jumbled and confused because I read the light novel summary. Maybe, it's better for you to watch the anime first and then read the light novel, so you will not very surprised with the different timeline. But, it doesn't make much difference though. The story still goes well, and I can enjoy the overall story. It's just, it's kinda irritating when some of the main conflicts in the novel don't appear in the anime. For example, the Iori's Past and his conflict with Kaname.
For the graphics, well, it's not as flashy as Amnesia, when it comes from the same studio. Amnesia has this kind of 'flashy eyes', 'flashy costume', and 'flashy backgrounds'. Brothers Conflict is much lighter and softer.
For the sounds, I love all the background music. Also the opening theme by Gero, 'Beloved x Survival' is so happy with the clap sounds. Don't forget the ending them '14 to 1' by all of the man siblings voice actors (Kyaa!! ><). How does it feel if 13 cute men (and a squirrel) sing a 'My sister! Mechakucha ni aishiteru' song? I can melt in place hahaha.
OK, so I think I'll give it 4 of 5 stars. Thanks to my bias for reverse harem anime. And thanks to the cute Asahina Brothers XD
