[Anime Movie Review] Hakuouki - Kyoto Ranbu

The first time I read the title I thought it was 'Kyoto RABU', and I said 'What the hell? Since when Hakuouki became a modern love story. And I was wrong hahaha

So, this is the simplified version of Hakuouki - Shinsengumi Kitan with mostly the same plot and setting. Ok, let's start reviewing

The movie starts with Yukimura Chizuru running from ronin who chase her. These ronin then were slayed by Rasetsu, a kind of mutant that drinks blood and active in the night time. When almost killed by a rasetsu, Chizuru was saved by Hajime Saito, Okita Souji, and of course my handsome Hijikata Toshizo fukuchou XD

The scenes are pretty in order, the first meeting with '3 Oni' in Ikeda, Sannan-san becomes rasetsu, Itou Kashitarou trying to split Shinsengumi and taking Heisuke also Saito, Souji became rasetsu and encountered Nagumo Kaoru, Kazama tried to kidnap Chizuru, and other scenes are exactly like the anime series.

I guess the different thing will be there is no Sen-hime here. Yamazaki death scene also isn't here. Instead there is this scene where Hijikata and Chizuru holding the same samurai and tried to fight Kazama. Then, the end.

The sound in this movie is beautiful. The ending track sang by Aika Yoshioka, as always is a suitable track for this kind of anime.

Actually, the movie run pretty fast, maybe because it tries to retell the 12 episodes of Shinsengumi Kitan. So, yeah no wonder. I will suggest you to watch the Shinsengumi Kitan first before watching this movie, because it will be pretty confusing.
